How This Is Calculated

Number of panels = fenced length (minus gate) divided by panel width, rounded up. Posts = panels + 1 (one at each end and between each panel). Gate posts are separate and heavier — use 100mm+ posts for gate openings.

The standard rule: 1/3 of the total post length should be in the ground. For a 1.8m (6ft) fence, use 2.7m posts set 900mm deep. In sandy or loose soil, increase depth to 1m. Always concrete posts in — post spikes are not adequate for tall fences or exposed positions.
